  • WAITING FOR GODOT – In ISRAEL

Only a Welshman, such as Dylan Thomas, would appreciate the true irony of ennui in war. As time drags, the World castigates Israel for not disemboweling its enemy without bloodshed and Khaled Mashaal pleads for the Hated Enemy to blunder into Gaza’s trap, Israel continues with its tactic of mixed messages. But wait! There is more!

    Khaled Mashaal

The fallacy of ensuring pin-point safety for your enemy has always been apparent, even though global media and sympathetic idiots everywhere protest Israel’s usual ‘disproportionate’ retribution. None of these individuals or organisations object when the usual cascade of explosives drops casually into Israel. The idea of Israel being an indefensible assault on Humanity’s senses seems so ingrained that people no longer even look up when media accounts mention the odd “home-made missile” landing safely, somewhere, in Israel.

But Israel takes such excruciating care not to really exact due punishment. The IDF Section responsible for sending out warning phonecalls has amassed all the real and true caller Ids of their victims and are ever ready to make that call.

In a world where war-rooms conventionally are focused upon effective and efficient destruction of the enemy, his assets and resources, Israel instead uses ad-hoc tactics taught in the classroom for actual combat while devoting its hi-tech capabilities to neutering its forces in the field.

    That’s alright.

    Israel knows its priorities.

    God knows Israel’s priorities.

Or that: God knows what Israel’s priorities are! With respect to the One True and Everloving God.

The war is really one of disinformation.

There are various ways to engage the war of disinformation. One method is to stifle all information flow. A News Blackout. Another is to circulate conflicting ‘official’ reports. Other methods comprise the generation of Commentary by enemy parties, with which they actually may or may not themselves agree.

In the war of disinformation the ‘Fog of War’ becomes a miasma of conflicting and emotive commentary about a conflict which can barely resemble the form or substance of the commentary. Sometimes ‘reliable sources’ give out verbal garments that fit where they touch.

In the first Gulf War the most impressive thing was the fact nothing made sense. The whole world knew a battle was underway but the only consistent fact emerging from the arena was the absence of coherent information. Tiny isolated bits of information staggered out of the dust and fell exhausted before people’s TVs and expired where they fell.

In the second, it was instead a matter of the 7th Cav being officially accompanied by accredited War Correspondents (heh) who informed us it sure was hot in here!

As an aside, we should point out George W Bush was precisely correct – after two weeks the Battle was won and Saddam’s regime was deposed. There was always going to be a minimum of ten years tidying up the cesspit of a nation revealed. Nothing since then has been a surprise. People who claim surprise are liars or disingenuous fools. Including: after two years of prevarication leading to what was always the inevitable ‘invasion’, those of us who are not surprised are not surprised also at the apparent lack of WMD.

    But anyway, disinformation.

Israel is engaged upon a series of surgically precise strikes, accompanied by an ever growing cloud of conjecture among its ruling (misruling) parties. All this is played out repeatedly in the global media. Bleeding hearts who wish Israel was the party being bombed parade and protest around the world. Israel hints that it won’t actually destroy the enemy, just encourage more ‘calm’.

For Israel, it seems, the desired option is that its enemies become far stronger yet and even more consolidated and entrenched in their animosity and their ability to exercise it on their ultimately shared and common foe. It seems equally desirable that Israel be surrounded not simply by Arab enemies but that the Peoples of the World engage. Much more yet, it would seem, than simply UNIFIL or EU Monitors. We must have a little way still to go.

In anycase, I can tell you, having just looked at the state-board in the Ops Room, Dragons are not GO. The Angels are out and about, busy busy busy with their vials of toil and trouble but no. We are still waiting for Godot. Dragons are not GO.

Thanks for the blog! It’s great. I’m a refular reader of the JPost. I live in Budapest, Hungary. Please keep up the good work – this is my 1st visit here. Are you Guran Walker from “Ur-Th”???

    2. Guran says:

Thanks for the Comments! Most are un-complimentary! Yes. Guran the Assistant Ghost is the webmaster at WenUblog. We also call this place Angel Central, perhaps because it’s the hangout of the Angel Raiofoz (heh) but as you are no doubt aware, ‘There are many angels’. The point to the blog is mainly to open eyes and – Yes! You are right about Iraqi WMD! In the two YEARS or more before the US invasion, the evidence could have been moved – ANYwhere.
Guran, Assistant Ghost (for the Dragon Went – Commander Wen Wing) heh

Oh, a criticism though. Contrary to common “wisdom” and all-encompassing PR, I am firmly of the opinion that there were, in fact, WMD sockpiled in Iraq before March, 2003. I am convinced about this, though I know how popular to believe the opposite.

Thanks, Gabor! The second last paragraph says it for me.
